What's turbochager

A turbocharger is an air pump designed to operated on the normally wasted energy in engine exhaust gas. When power is demanded, significant amounts of energy, in the form of high temperature air, expand and waste into the exhaust system. A turbocharger captures some of this energy and uses it to help recharge the engine with as much air as possible. Expanded engine exhaust gas is directed through the exhaust manifold into the turbine housing. The exhaust gas pressure and the heat energy extracted from the gas causes the turbine wheel to rotate which drives the compressor wheel.
Compressor brades accelerate and expel the air into the compressor housing where it is compressed and directed through ducting to the engine intake manifold.
A turbocharger provides pressurized air which permits more air, and therefore more fuel, to be introduced into the cylinder. The end result is more power and higher combistion efficiency.

Turbochargers are high technology's rotary machines under operate at high speed and high temperetures.
Read this point book enough before can possess an engine.

Confirmation before install to the engine

  • An engine oil line neatly!! Let's wash away sludge

(1)Please repeat several times exchange of the engine oil. (It is impossible of flushing with solvent)
Please repeat itself till it confirm the oil which I pulled, and sludge / an alien substance disappears

(2)Check the whole oil lubrication system!
"The engine which the sludge stuck, please be careful"

(3)Turbo oil passage supply pipe drain pipe union bolt check / exchange!!
(A union volt has a car model with mesh. If a net is clogged up, please be careful)

(4)Oil filter exchange

(5)The oil pressure that is normal as for the oil pump?

Some kind of causes tend to be it in neighboring condition in ten thousands of kilos for years, the turbo ran without abnormality having broken down this time till now.  It recurs unless I repair a basic factor.  Each body of rotation part of the turbo is not the machine that aging is worn for non-contact.

  • A. Check of Air cleaner, Objects( Bolt, Nut, Cloth ) in Intake pipe and Exhaust pipe. Check on appearance oily.

Foreign object damage to impeller. Please confirm whether a impeller lock nut sticks by all means. When there is not it, It is left in an air cleaner or the intake pipe and turbo failure again.  It does not become the object of the claim.

 

  • The dirt of the air cleaner, confirmation of being jammed
  • Jammed oil drain pipe of the turbo, an inlet pipe, the carbon of the union bolt and am stained and am destroyed, and the confirmation oil pipe of the alien substance does a pipe and a union bolt to a set at the attachment, and please change it by all means.
  • The confirmation of each engine part
  • Confirm PCV valve movement

The check at the time of install to engine

  • Use grade of the maker recommendation, viscosity at the time of the exchange with engine oil by all means.
  • Before turbo install, please pour in engine oil from turbo oil inlet, rotate a wheel with a finger, and oil should spread round a bearing part.
  • Use a new gasket for a turbo oil inlet / outlet part, and do not use liquid gasket.
  • Be careful enough so that garbage is not in the oil inlet, a pipe, the union bolt.

Confirmation after install to the engine

  • Do not raise engine rotation rapidly after engine starting . Please hold the idling state for 10 minutes.
  • Maintain an idling state for approximately 10 minutes, and please do not do the idling long time.
  • Suggest really driving, and confirm the operation situation of the turbo without doing engine of racing.
  • Since sludge may flow into a turbo, do not perform engine Flushing after turbo exchange, and cleaning.

The following conditions are not the turbo failure.

Bearing clearance before turbo installation

When oil of bearing part is nothing, the radial clearance of the shaft is felt size out. When oil turns around and takes oil pressure, it become the normal clearance.
The turbo delivered to you tested it in more than 100,000 RPM and passed it.

White smoke immediately after turbo installation.

The oil which leaked remains in the muffler.
It operates until oil is burned out.
